New Leadership

On August 1, Lakshmi Nallamala transitioned out of the Executive Director role at Lincoln Village and we welcomed our new Executive Director, Jess Ahrens. While this is a new position for her, Jess is in no way new to Lincoln. She has served faithfully as part of our Field Staff team and most recently as the Field Staff Director. We know that with her leadership, passion, and vision, God will continue to do mighty things in and around our community.

There is no way to summarize our deep gratitude for Lakshmi and all that she has brought to Lincoln. We know that God has worked through her faithfulness to achieve great things for His kingdom. We are eternally grateful for her years of leadership and most importantly, friendship. Lakshmi will now serve as Executive Mentor to Jess.

Please join us in praying for both Jess and Lakshmi during this transition and beyond!

Lincoln Academy

Lincoln Academy welcomed 87 students back to school on Thursday, August 1. We are pleased to announce that we have two kindergarten classes. Our hope is to grow, one grade at a time, from the bottom up. In addition to welcoming 23 new students, we had one new teacher, Ms. Shock,  join the Lincoln family.  Ms. Porter and Ms. Brasher have been with us for a while but have taken on new teaching positions this year.  Coach Parker spent the summer with us at Camp Lead and is now our full-time PE teacher.  Welcome!

The new playground and swings have been a massive hit with the students!  Thank you to our generous donors for making this possible.

In July, a friend at Whitesburg Christian Academy contacted us to see if we would be interested in Promethean Boards. After observing them in use, we gladly accepted their donation. This year, the first and second grade classes are experimenting with the boards. They are interactive and engaging!

Our older students have paired up with our kindergarten students as Friday friends.  They enjoy spending time reading and playing with their special buddies!

Worship is off to a great start! During August, we focused on how we were all designed for a particular purpose: to love others and tell them about Jesus.

Little Linc

Little Linc Preschool is back in session for a new school year. We have 31 students enrolled in three classrooms and for many of our preschool students, this is the first time they have ever been in a classroom setting.  Before they can learn their letters or how to count to ten, they have to learn how school works.  From taking turns to following a schedule, there is a lot to learn!  It is a joy to see the classes begin to take shape, functioning as a group and moving through the day together with their teachers as their guides.  The children have learned so much already, and we know it's going to be a wonderful year!

One of our favorite things at Little Linc is getting to know our preschool parents.  We hosted our first of three Parent Power classes at the end of August.  We were able to share our approach to teaching the Bible to young children and send every family home with a children's Bible, binder for parent guides, and a special bag to hold their materials.  Over the school year, the children can return their bags weekly for a new story they can read with their family at home.  We put out a request on social media for your help in purchasing the Bibles and bags for this event, and we were blown away by your response!  Thank you to everyone who helped purchase those things for the preschool!  We are always updating our Amazon wishlist if you'd like to bless the preschool this year: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3H2Y0UM55VNIK?ref_=wl_share.

Evolve Program - Welcoming New Families

The Evolve Program at Lincoln Village is continuing to grow and we have welcomed several new families in the past few months. Meet one of our newest neighbors, Kristina, and her 2 daughters. Kristina’s main goals while at Lincoln are to grow spiritually, increase her financial literacy, and improve her parenting and communication skills. She will be paired with one of our staff Neighborhood Coordinators where she will get access to all the resources she needs to meet these goals and more. We pray that her time at Lincoln allows her the capacity to accomplish these things and more!

Our staff works diligently alongside 5-6 families each to ensure that they get all the guidance needed to grow in all areas of their life. Our mission at Lincoln is to share the transforming power of the Gospel of Christ because we know that without a relationship with Jesus, no amount of resources will truly bring them out of the situations they are in. We offer Bible studies, encourage church attendance, and share personal stories of how Jesus has changed our lives. Our hope is that above anything else, these residents leave knowing about the God who loves them immeasurably. Please continue to pray for these families as they are here at Lincoln. Pray that they will feel a sense of peace and security during their time here and that each one of them will allow the Lord to work in their lives.

Scholarships for Kids

Every student at Lincoln Academy is able to attend through an organization called Scholarships for Kids. This organization operates through the Alabama Accountability Act to provide funding for low income families to attend private school. This Act, established in 2013, allows the working Alabama resident or Alabama business to redirect 100% of their state income tax to a scholarship granting organization who then provides the funds to the school for children in need. Additionally a 100% tax credit is issued to the donor. This is a no-cost way to support the education of our children and we would love your help!

For more information on how to set this up for yourself or your business, please visit www.lincolnvillage.org/scholarships or talk to your tax professional. For information specific to Scholarships for Kids you can visit https://scholarshipsforkids.org/donors/.
