20th Birthday Celebration
Thursday, October 20th, we had almost 300 guests on campus to celebrate Lincoln’s 20th Birthday! It was a glorious day and a joyful reunion for our many friends and supporters.
The celebration would not have been possible without our amazing vendors and ministry partners! Lillie Whitaker created our beautiful welcome sign. Metropolitan Disc Jockey Service and Steve Metz went above and beyond with audio/visual logistics all powered by a generator from Robin Rents Equipment. Edgar's Bakery prepared the delicious lunch boxes. Church of the Highlands provided golf carts for transporting guests from the parking area and Mullins Special Occasions set up the big tent and chairs as well as tables, tablecloths, and staging.

Lincoln Academy
November has been a very busy month at Lincoln Academy! The students are so excited about all of the fun activities. It’s been a joy to see all of their smiling faces.
November’s word of the month is grateful. We are grateful for 4-H Changemakers creating a community event that allows parents, students, and others to learn about online safety skills and technology. The students had the opportunity to participate in a STEM activity during this event. This was the first community outreach event since Covid struck where ALL of Lincoln Village Ministries families were invited to be together! It was a big success!
Lincoln Academy’s students also had the opportunity to see Opera Huntsville’s traveling show Jack and the Beanstalk. The cast had our students engaged and laughing during the entire performance. Thank you, Opera Huntsville!
Veteran’s Day cards were created for our own Veterans and other Veterans in the community. The students were able to serve our Veterans and make them feel appreciated, valued, and seen.
God is doing incredible things! We are looking forward to more fun get-togethers and an exciting month!
Little Linc
Little Linc Preschool is having a wonderful start to our school year! The children are learning and growing, and we have been so thankful to bring back some pre-Covid events for our preschool families. After two years of virtual meetings, our first two Parent Power classes have been a wonderful success! At our first meeting, the parents received a special Bible bag with a binder of Bible stories and an age appropriate children's Bible for their family. We showed the parents how to use these materials at home, and each week the children return their bags to receive the next Bible story guide in their binder. These parent guides give the adult some insight into the story and ideas to engage their preschooler, as well as a place to write down prayer requests. Our families have been very active in reading these stories at home and in returning their bags weekly to the preschool. Our second Parent Power class was led by guest speaker Natalie Balch and taught our parents about connecting with their children through play. What a blessing to meet in person with our preschool parents, enjoy breakfast together, and encourage them in the challenging but rewarding work of parenting.
Another special event that we were able to bring back to the preschool this year was our Tate Farms Pumpkin Patch field trip. Every child had a parent or grandparent join them for a very special afternoon with a hay ride, pumpkin picking, jumping pillow, corn crib, and time with friends. We love seeing our preschool parents get to know each other and giving the children new experiences.
Please pray for a current need we have at the preschool for help during our after school program from 2:40-5:00pm, especially on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you love Jesus and love working with little ones, please consider contacting preschool director Ashley Powell about this position at ashley@lincolnvillage.org.
Youth Programs
Our 7th and 8th grade students have been working hard to prepare for high school and learn professional skills in our Lincoln Launch program led by Mrs. Margaret Powell. They got to celebrate a day off from learning speeches by making Halloween themed cookies.
Our Learning Lab has been blessed to be fully staffed with many volunteers on call. A special thanks to Mrs. Laura McDonough for returning part time as Mrs. Hilary Horner goes on maternity leave. We are also blessed with fruit twice a week from our ministry’s ambassadors. Healthy and full stomachs to start each Tuesday and Thursday!
Enjoy pictures of our principal, Ms. Chasitey Garner, visiting with the after school students and playing basketball with them!
Resident Highlight
Lincoln resident Rene was recently asked about changes in her appearance. Her smile. Her voice. Her confidence. Her contagious joy. Rene shyly smiled and said, “I feel like a new person.” Since coming to Lincoln one year ago, everything has changed for Rene. New living situation. New neighbors. New friends. New advocates.
At Lincoln, Rene is finding financial freedom. She’s working 45 hours/week, earning two raises this year. In addition, she completed cybersecurity training, hoping to soon start a new career.
Now that she’s been here a year, Rene can participate in Lincoln’s matched savings program where she can save up to $2,500 which will then be matched dollar-for-dollar by Lincoln. Rene plans to apply her matched savings to the purchase of her first home, prayerfully just 3 years from now.
Rene is experiencing new freedom in Christ. Freedom from the past. Freedom from shame. Gratitude to God overflows from Rene for leading her to Lincoln, for opening doors, and for new found intimacy in her walk with Him. She has hope for her future - hope found only in Christ!
But forget all that—It is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:18-19
Volunteers
School service days are great ways for groups to get involved at Lincoln Village. This month we hosted students from Randolph School and Madison Academy. These kids spent time learning all about what God is doing at Lincoln Village as well as poverty simulation exercises. They also put in a lot of work helping with landscaping, demolition material clean up, organizing, and moving supplies around the campus. We are so thankful for the partnerships we have built with our area schools. If your school or work group wants to get involved at Lincoln, reach out to Janah Baker at janah@lincolnvillage.org to get on our schedule soon. There are several opportunities available!
Many Thanks!
We are so thankful for the ministry partners who work alongside us to advance the Gospel through housing! City Lumber Co, thank you for investing in our community!
Thank you BJ and Amy King and River Tree Insurance Services, Inc. for your generous donation! River Tree donates $25 for every referral they receive and we are honored that they chose to come alongside all that God is doing at Lincoln Village.
Thank you Becca Abercrombie with The Abercrombie Group and Moe’s BBQ for providing a wonderful lunch for all of our teachers today! This small token of appreciation for all their hard work goes such a long way.
How You Can Help!
Want to make a huge impact in the life of a student at ZERO cost to you? The Alabama Accountability Act allows taxpayers to redirect their state income tax liability towards scholarships for qualified students. Individuals can now give 100% of their state tax liability for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, and business owners will profit from these contributions. It literally costs nothing to give!
The deadline of 12/31/22 is quickly approaching, and we have a long way to go to reach our goal and provide a scholarship to all of our students. Visit https://www.lincolnvillage.org/scholarships for more information. Thank you for your support of our school and the students in our community!
