Lincoln Academy
Our seventh and eighth grade students visited Hudson Alpha for a recent field trip. They extracted DNA from strawberries and made cheese under their armpits!
Read Across America Week was a huge success at Lincoln Academy! We always have a lot of fun encouraging students to read and celebrating their reading accomplishments all week.
Huntsville Hospital and the UAH College of Nursing sponsor a field trip called “Let’s Pretend Hospital”. This program is designed for first grade students to help reduce the fear and anxiety they may experience if they must be hospitalized or visit the emergency room. Our students had so much fun and learned a lot!
Little Linc
Little Linc Preschool is celebrating the Risen Christ this Easter! What a joyful privilege to share the incredible love of God for each of our precious students shown through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Our daily Bible time has been the focus of our school days as we take extra time to help the children understand the Gospel. We use our wooden storytelling pieces to act out the story each day. One class acted out the Last Supper, helping each child tear the bread and taste the juice as they talked about Jesus' sacrifice. Please pray with us that the children will understand more of the Gospel this Easter as we joyfully remember that "He is not here; He has risen, just as He said." (Matthew 28:6)
The preschoolers have been enjoying the beautiful spring weather! The preschool classes joined together for an Easter egg hunt and had a great time! We've also enjoyed making special crafts to celebrate the season. Thank you for your prayers and support for Little Linc Preschool!
How do our neighbors Evolve?
One of the ways we equip and empower our neighbors in The Village Neighborhood and Lincoln North is by pointing them to resources within our community. We have been blessed with community relationships that allow us to offer our neighbors what they need to accomplish their goals while living at Lincoln.
Due to the generosity of individuals and ministry partners, we have counselors, financial advisors, legal advisors, auto repair, food sources, employment opportunities, and education opportunities, just to name a few. All of these resources are available to each neighbor and they are encouraged to utilize them as much as possible to achieve their goals.
We are always looking for new ways to resource our neighbors. If you have a talent or resource that you feel would be beneficial for our neighbors we would love to hear from you! You can contact our Field Staff Director, Jess Ahrens, at jess@lincolnvillage.org.
Beautiful Things
Ladies, please join us for our annual luncheon Beautiful Things on May 7 at The Botanical Garden. This is always a beautiful event filled with fellowship, a delicious meal, an inspiring program, and a wonderful silent auction. Visit bidpal.net/lincoln for more information and to RSVP!
In The Beginning…
Legend has it that when Mark walked Mike Stanfield around the Lincoln area in 2003 and told him we needed to buy the houses, Mike asked Mark “How many?” Mark’s reply - “All of them!”
Hard to believe back then that anyone would have dreamed of how abundantly God would show up in Lincoln Village Ministry’s housing endeavors.
From that first walk to present, Lincoln has over 50 completely renovated housing units. Praise Him!
Add in a school & campus, current building projects, and our Community Building, plus two commercial rental units. By end of summer, that number will be closer to 60! Absolutely amazing.
From humble beginnings (but, great expectations) in 2004, Mark was able to make relationships with management of the local Home Depot stores and he oversaw them volunteering time & resources to complete the very first remodeled unit in our area.
Today, while preparing to do some updates, we exposed a few walls near the chimney. To our surprise, we found a small container that was sealed. When opened, we discovered an orange T-shirt with signatures from some of the Home Depot employees who gave of their time.
They left a TIME CAPSULE and never told any of us about it!
Thank you so much to the original pioneers in the housing portion of Lincoln Village Ministry. You wouldn’t believe what has transpired in the past 20 years.
It was less than a year after they completed this unit when the two groups from First Baptist Huntsville and Weatherly Heights Baptist came on board weekly and continued the remodeling process. And they are STILL active.
We have greatly relied on volunteer’s labor throughout the years and continue to do so today. If you, your church, your family, small group, or business would like to be a part of His work, please visit our website at “lincolnvillage.org” and click Get Involved - then, Volunteer. We would love to have your help!
